Hi There,
I haven't got much confidence in art, but I am told I'm quite good. I think I should start practicing more. But is it better to start on the background of a picture, or of the main items in it?
Thanks
Annaleigh

Hi Annaleigh, confidence will come with practice. You will get to know what works for you. As far as the backgound is concerned, it really depends on the picture that you are doing. With some pet portraits, I do the background halfway though and sometimes I do it as I am doing the portrait. It is difficult to do it right at the beginning because you need to match the colours with the focus or subject.
Hope that this will help you.
Colin
